Suspect Fleeing Police Crashes into Vehicle at Azusa Ave. in Pomona
POMONA, CA (February 11, 2021) – On Wednesday night in Pomona, a driver who was fleeing police pursuit collided with another vehicle. The February 10 crash occurred where Puente Hills and Azusa Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly a little after 10:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident began, reports say, when authorities pursued the suspect driver for street racing in the Hacienda Heights area. The pursuit went through the San Gabriel Valley, onto a number of freeways such as the 60 Freeway eastbound, the 57 Freeway northbound through the area of Walnut, and the 10 Freeway eastbound into Pomona.
At the Puente Hills and Azusa Avenue intersection in Pomona, the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle, which has not been described.
Close to where White Avenue and Burdick Drive intersect, the suspect vehicle stopped. Officers with the California Highway Patrol took two occupants–the driver and a passenger–into custody.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck has not been identified. It is not known if the person was hurt in the crash. Reports do not say if there were any passengers in the vehicle.
The suspect driver, and the passenger who had been in the suspect’s vehicle, have not been identified.
Investigators are continuing to work on the details of the incident.
