Michael Eugene Begin Arrested in Suspected Road Rage in Placentia; Two People Injured
PLACENTIA, CA (November 21, 2018) – Michael Eugene Begin was arrested by Placentia Police on Tuesday afternoon, after he was involved in a traffic incident on Monday. Officers arrested Begin where he worked in Laguna Woods.
According to reports, the November 19 incident occurred close to where Hundley Way and Orangethorpe Avenue intersect in Placentia. Sergeant Bryce Angel, who is a public information officer with Placentia Police, said a man who had been driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, dark blue in color, clipped a motorcycle’s rear tire from behind. Reports say the police think the incident was intentional.
According to Angel, the person who had been riding the motorcycle was ejected and struck a retaining wall located on the street’s north side. The motorcycle was thrown onto the sidewalk of Orangethorpe Avenue, where it struck a person walking there. Reports say a person witnessed the suspect driver traveling on the 91 Freeway westbound, close to Raymond Avenue.
Respondents transported the injured motorcyclist to a hospital in the area. His condition was described as critical. The person who had been walking on the sidewalk was also transported to the hospital for treatment of a broken leg.
After police arrested Begin, a 54-year-old resident of Long Beach, they located a damaged truck that they think was the vehicle used in the incident.
The identities of the victims have not yet been reported. Investigators are examining the information and details of the incident.
