Collision Involving Police Vehicle in Placentia Injures Three People

PLACENTIA, CA (June 12, 2019) – A collision involving a police vehicle in Placentia late Sunday morning injured three people. The June 9 incident occurred where Melrose Avenue and La Jolla Street intersect.

The time was roughly 11:45 a.m., according to Chris Anderson. Anderson is a sergeant with the Placentia Police.

Reports say an officer with Placentia Police had been traveling to respond to a call about a house fire. The officer was traveling eastbound on La Jolla Street with the patrol vehicle’s warning siren and lights activated. At the intersection, the officer stopped before proceeding into it, according to Anderson. When the officer went through the intersection, Anderson said, he collided with a Nissan Frontier.

Five occupants in the Nissan suffered injuries that were described as minor in the collision. Three of the victims were transported to a hospital. According to Anderson, the officer was not injured. The Nissan and the patrol car had damage from the crash.

The identity of the officer has not been reported. The identities of the people who were traveling in the Nissan have not been reported, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
