Pilot Who Died in Sylmar Plane Crash Near I-5 was Executive for Disney Imagineering

SYLMAR, CA (August 15, 2018) – Scott Watson, an executive for Disney Imagineering, died on Sunday when the plane he was piloting crashed in a Sylmar field near the I-5 Freeway. The accident occurred a little before 2:00 p.m.
Watson was described as a resident of Marina Del Rey who was 55 years old. He had been employed by Disney for a long time, reports say, and he worked to develop rides for Disney’s theme parks.
According to reports, Watson was the sole occupant of the aircraft he was flying, which was described as an A320 single-engine plane. His plane crashed into a field.
People who were passing by tried to remove him from the wrecked plane. They said they found that Watson was conscious following the crash.
Responders from the fire department rescued Watson from the wreckage, but he died from his injuries.
Friends and coworkers mourned his death, as people remembered his kindness and generosity in helping to mentor others.
Federal Aviation Administration records show that Watson was registered as the owner of the aircraft.
