Woman Killed in Collision on Ramona Expressway in Perris
PERRIS, CA (June 14, 2019) – Patricia Workman was killed in a collision in the morning on Wednesday on the Ramona Expressway in Perris. The June 12 incident occurred where the expressway intersects Evans Road.
The time was roughly a little before 8:30 a.m., according to Juan Quintero. Quintero is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a vehicle, described as a Nissan Xterra, had been traveling east at a fast speed on the expressway. The Nissan went through a light that was red and hit a Toyota Camry, which had been traveling northbound on Evans. Workman had been driving the Toyota.
Both vehicles were sent into the expressway’s westbound lanes by the force of the collision, according to Quintero, and they hit another vehicle, described as a Chevrolet van.
Workman died at the accident site. She was 55 years old and a resident of Moreno Valley, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
The person who had been driving the van suffered injuries that were described as minor. The van’s driver has not been identified. A passenger in the van—who was identified only as a student on the way to the California School for the Deaf, located in Riverside—was not hurt.
The person who had been driving the Nissan ran from the accident site. He was arrested by deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff. He was identified only as a resident of Perris, 29 years old. His name has not been reported. Responders transported him to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were described as major. According to Quintero, the driver is being investigated for vehicular homicide.
