San Diego Pedestrian Struck and Killed on I-15; Driver Suspected of DUI
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 20, 2022) – Early in the morning on Sunday in San Diego, a pedestrian on I-15 was struck and killed by a driver suspected of DUI. The September 18 crash occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, close to Miramar Road and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 4:10 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
According to Jesse Matias, who is a public information officer with the California Highway Patrol, a man was walking on the freeway.
A vehicle–described as a Lexus–struck the pedestrian.
Responders pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the crash site. His identity–including name, age, and city of residence–has not been reported.
The person who was driving the vehicle stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.
Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. He was identified only as 23 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work to understand the crash.
