San Diego Pedestrian on 805 Freeway is Struck and Killed
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 25, 2022) – Early on Sunday night in San Diego, a pedestrian on the 805 Freeway was struck and killed. The October 23 crash occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, near Del Sol Boulevard and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 7:50 p.m., Jesse Matias said. Matias is a public information office with the California Highway Patrol.
According to authorities, a woman was walking in the freeway lanes near the area of Ocean View Hills.
A vehicle–described as a Toyota van–struck her; the van’s driver stayed at the crash site.
Responders pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
She was identified only as a resident of Torrance, 34 years old; her name has not been reported.
The driver was identified only as 51 years old. His name and city of residence are not known from reports.
Investigators are working to understand why the woman was walking on the freeway, and what circumstances may have been involved related to the crash.
