Pauma Valley Head-on Collision on Highway 76 Causes Injuries
PAUMA VALLEY, CA (December 29, 2020) – Early in the evening on Monday, a head-on collision near Pauma Valley caused life-threatening and moderate injuries to two drivers. The December 28 incident occurred on Highway 76.
The time was roughly 6:18 p.m., Thomas Shoots said. Shoots is a fire captain with Cal Fire.
Two vehicles–described as a sedan and a paneled van–collided head on for reasons that are not known.
Responding firefighters worked nearly half an hour to free each driver from the wreckage of the vehicles. Responders transported the patients to Palomar Hospital for treatment.
One driver suffered injuries that were described as life threatening. The person’s current condition is not known. The identity of the driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, is not known.
The other driver suffered injuries that were described as moderate. The types of injuries the person suffered have not been described. The driver’s identity has not been reported.
Each driver had been the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened.
