Multi-vehicle Collision on Highway 101 in Paso Robles Injures Several People
PASO ROBLES, CA (April 19, 2019) – Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 101 in Paso Robles on Thursday afternoon. The April 18 incident occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway, in a stretch between the exit ramp for Highway 46 East and Paso Robles Street.
The time was roughly 12:45 p.m.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a dump truck—had been traveling north on the highway, and came up on traffic that had slowed because of construction in the area. For reasons that are not known, the dump truck’s driver did not stop. The truck smashed into a car, described as a Chevy Malibu.
The Malibu struck a Honda Odyssey, and the Honda Odyssey hit the shoulder of the road and then smashed into a tree. The Malibu continued traveling, out of the driver’s control, and struck the back end of a Honda CR-V, reports say.
The driver of the dump truck was identified as a man 44 years old and a resident of Bradley. His name has not been reported. The person who was driving the Chevy was identified as a resident of Chula Vista. The person’s name, age, and gender have not been reported. The person driving the Honda Odyssey was identified as a man who is a resident of Yorba Linda. The man’s name and age have not been reported. The person driving the Honda CR-V was identified as a resident of Avila Beach. The person’s name, age, and gender have not been reported.
Respondents took the person who had been driving the Malibu to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. The person had suffered injuries that were described as moderate. The current condition of the victim is not known.
According to reports, respondents took several people who had been traveling as passengers in the vehicles to hospitals in the area to be treated for injuries they suffered. The injuries were described as minor. Reports do not describe which vehicle the passengers had been traveling in at the time of the incident, or their identities.
