Two Injured in Paso Robles Head-on Crash

PASO ROBLES, CA (June 19, 2019) – Justin Lahr and Cassandra Walton were injured in a head-on crash in the afternoon on Monday in Paso Robles. The June 17 incident occurred on Linne Road.

The time was roughly 1:50 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say Walton had been heading west on Linne Road in a Mercedes Benz. Lahr had been traveling east on Linne Road in a Jeep Comanche. According to reports, the CHP explained that at a point near Hudson Road, and to the east of it, Walton was distracted as she rolled the window down. Her vehicle went over the yellow line and into the lane of opposing traffic.

According to the CHP, Lahr saw the Mercedes in the lane he was traveling in, and tried to avoid colliding with it by turning left. Seeing that she was traveling in the wrong direction, Walton is reported to have turned right to re-enter the correct lane. Reports say Lahr saw the Mercedes return to its lane. He braked, but the vehicles crashed into each other head-on.

The force of the collision trapped Lahr in his vehicle. The vehicle Walton was in traveled onto the road’s shoulder, struck a fence, and rolled. Walton exited her vehicle on her own, reports say. Responders had to rescue Lahr by working to extricate him from the wrecked vehicle.

Lahr suffered injuries that were described as serious, including a leg that was broken. Walton suffered injuries that were described as moderate. Responders transported both people to San Luis Obispo’s Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Lahr was identified as 22 years old and a resident of Paso Robles. Walton was identified as 18 years old and a resident of Paso Robles.

Investigators are continuing their work on understanding the details of the crash.
