Deputies’ Patrol Vehicle Crashes into Car with Mother and Children in Paramount
PARAMOUNT, CA (January 17, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday in Paramount, a head-on collision involving a patrol vehicle carrying two Lakewood deputies and a car with a mother and children caused injuries. The January 16 incident occurred on Somerset Boulevard near Texaco Street.
The time was roughly 7:15 a.m.
Reports say the deputies had been on patrol in an SUV. While attempting to avoid colliding with an accident which just happened, they struck a car head on, according to Pasquale Aiello. Aiello is a sergeant with the Lakewood station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to reports, the woman had been driving her three children. Reports say the mother and one of her children—identified as 4 years old—suffered injuries that included cuts. Two of the children were not described as injured. The identity of the woman, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Responders arrived and took the deputies to the hospital. The two suffered injuries that were described as minor. The identities of the deputies have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work of gathering information and details regarding the incident.
