Lanes Closed on 10 Fwy After Wrong-Way Crash
PALM DESERT, CA (August 24, 2024) — A wrong-way crash on the 10 Freeway late Saturday night left at least one person injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. on August 24, near Cook Street and Monterey Avenue. CHP reports that a black Honda sedan, traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with another vehicle for reasons still under investigation.
Eastbound Lanes On The 10 Freeway Were Temporarily Closed
Witnesses reported seeing a physical altercation between individuals involved in the crash at the scene. CAL Fire Riverside County crews arrived shortly after, along with a tow truck, to assist with clearing the wreckage.
Eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway were temporarily closed during the incident to allow for cleanup and investigation.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash and will release further details as they become available. Drivers are reminded to stay alert, drive within their lanes, and practice defensive driving to prevent similar incidents.
