Big Rig Crashes, Knocks Out Power Lines; Pacific Coast Highway Shut Down in Pacific Palisades
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA (December 28, 2018) – A crash involving a big rig in the afternoon on Thursday in Pacific Palisades knocked out power lines and led to the closure of Pacific Coast Highway. The December 27 accident involved a single vehicle, as far as has been reported.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said that the big rig struck a power line. Reports say that two people who had been traveling in the big rig were trapped in the vehicle. According to crews from Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, energy was still flowing through the power line. One of the workers on the crew stayed with the people in the big rig to make sure they remained inside the truck, where they would be safe, until the other members of the crew cut the power to the line.
The incident required authorities to close Pacific Coast Highway for hours, in the section of the road between Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard.
Reports say that the people in the big rig, who have not been identified, were not injured in the incident and they were able to finally exit the vehicle. The identity of the person driving the truck, the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence have not yet been reported, nor has information been reported for the passenger.
What caused the big rig to clip the power lines has also not yet been reported. Investigators are examining the information and details to find out why the accident happened.
