Two Suspects Arrested After Drive-by Shooting in Oxnard and Hit-and-run Crashes
OXNARD, CA (April 19, 2019) – Two suspects were arrested after a drive-by shooting and hit-and-run collisions in Oxnard in the evening on Wednesday. The April 17 incident concluded on Jefferson Square, when the suspects’ vehicle smashed into a wall.
The time was roughly 7:30 p.m.
Reports say officers received reports of a drive-by shooting in south Oxnard, close to a location where a homicide involving a shooting had occurred six hours prior. No injuries were reported during the drive-by shooting.
Officers saw a vehicle speed away from the area and crash into another vehicle. Officers pursued the suspects, who continued to flee. While fleeing, the suspects’ vehicle collided with another vehicle in a second hit-and-run incident. The vehicle the suspects had been traveling in then struck a wall located on Jefferson Square, in an area near Pleasant Valley Road and to the south of it.
According to police, a person who had been traveling in the suspects’ vehicle threw a firearm away from the vehicle’s window. Officers arrested the two suspects. The identities of the suspects, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence, have not been reported.
The identities of the drivers of the vehicles that the suspects’ vehicle struck in the two separate collisions have not been reported. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in the victims’ vehicles at the time of the crashes. The types of vehicles the victims were driving have not been described. According to reports, no one was hurt in the separate incidents.
It is not clear from reports if the drive-by shooting had a connection to the homicide which occurred hours prior. Investigators are examining the details and evidence related to the incident.
