Shirley Fontaine Dies in Crash in Oxnard
OXNARD, CA (November 15, 2018) – A crash in Oxnard on Wednesday evening killed Shirley Fontaine. The November 14 accident occurred where Camino Del Sol and Rice Avenue intersect, the Oxnard Police Department says.
The time was roughly 6:48 p.m.
According to reports, two vehicles—described as a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Toyota Camry—collided. The Camry had been heading south on Rice Avenue prior to the collision, and attempted to turn left at Camino Del Sol. The pickup truck was heading north on Rice Avenue, and the vehicles collided.
Two people who had been traveling in the Camry suffered injuries.
Responders took the victims from the Camry to Ventura County Medical Center, located in Ventura. The driver was identified as Arnold Francis Fontaine, a 74 year old, and the passenger was identified as Shirley Yvonne Fontaine, a 58 year old.
According to police, Arnold Fontaine had injuries that were characterized as moderate. Shirley Fontaine suffered injuries that were fatal. Shirley Fontaine died from her injuries.
The people who had been traveling in the pickup truck were not injured, and cooperated with investigators. The identities of the people who were in the pickup have not yet been reported.
