Collision in Oxnard Seriously Injures Pedestrian

OXNARD, CA (May 29, 2019) – A collision in the afternoon on Monday in Oxnard seriously injured a pedestrian. The May 27 incident occurred on Saviers Road where it intersects with Hueneme Road.

The time was roughly a little before 5:30 p.m.

Reports say a pedestrian—identified as a man 42 years old and a resident of Oxnard—had been crossing Saviers Road on foot within a crosswalk when a vehicle hit him. According to police, a Ford Taurus had been traveling west on Hueneme Road and a pickup truck had been heading east on Hueneme Road. The pickup made a turn to the left in front of the oncoming Ford, reports say, and the vehicles veered to avoid hitting each other. The Ford struck the man who was walking.

Respondents transported the pedestrian to VCMC. The injuries he suffered have not been reported. His condition was described as serious. The man’s name has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the Ford remained at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The person’s identity has not been reported.

The person who had been driving the pickup fled the accident site, and traveled north on Saviers Road, according to reports. A description of the person has not been reported.
