Collision in Oxnard May Have Involved Shooting
OXNARD, CA (November 21, 2018) – A collision in the afternoon on Tuesday in Oxnard may have involved a shooting. The details of the incident were not clear, and the Violent Crime Unit of the Oxnard Police Department is examining the information.
According to reports, the November 20 crash occurred where Olds Road and Channel Islands Boulevard intersect. The time was roughly 4:30 p.m.
Officers received reports, as they were traveling to the site of the accident, that the people who had been in the crashed vehicles were shooting one another.
Officers arrived on scene and located one occupant in one of the vehicles. The person was injured, and responders transported the victim to the hospital.
A second vehicle—described as a two-door sedan, white in color—was located at the accident site. It appeared to officers that the abandoned vehicle had also been involved in the crash.
Police arrested a man, described as 20 years old, who had been traveling in the white sedan. The man had run into a field nearby before officers arrested him.
Officers found another vehicle—described as a black sedan—in the area, which was believed to have been involved in the collision. Two occupants—described as men, both 21 years of age—were arrested.
Police found evidence that a shooting took place, but they found no one injured from shooting.
A helicopter search and sheriff’s K-9 assisted in searching for a suspect, but reports do not yet offer information regarding whether the suspect was apprehended.
