The San Diego County attorney’s office has filed charges of involuntary manslaughter against a mother and daughter after their pitbulls attacked another woman and killed her.
Emaka Mendoza, the victim, was attacked in the yard of her Paradise Hills home by the dogs. She had to have her leg and arm amputated and she underwent a number of dangerous surgeries, before eventually succumbing to her injuries on December 24th.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to felony charges of possessing dangerous animals.
The dogs had previously attacked another neighbor, according to a spokesperson of the court. They were put down after the incident by the county Department of Animal Services.
