Car and Ambulance Collide on The City Drive in Orange
ORANGE, CA (December 5, 2018) – A car and an ambulance collided in Orange Tuesday night. The December 4 accident occurred on The City Drive, close to Chapman Avenue.
The time was roughly a bit before 7:00 p.m.
According to reports, a vehicle—described as a hatchback—and an ambulance collided. Eric Birkelbach, who is a firefighter in Orange, said that no patient was inside of the ambulance at the time of the crash. The ambulance had just departed the UCI Medical Center.
The impact from the crash sent the ambulance onto a curb. It then went through a weak chain link fence that had closed off a slope of grass next to a 5 Freeway overpass. The crash ruined portions of the chain link fence, which was smashed almost to ground level.
The car had significant damage to its front.
Reports says that neither driver, nor a person who had been traveling in the back of the ambulance, were hurt.
What led up to the accident, and what caused it have not yet been reported. The identities of the people involved in the accident have also not yet been reported.
Investigators are looking into the information.
