Ontario Officer on Patrol Motorcycle Injured After Striking Rear-end of Truck on 215 Freeway
ONTARIO, CA (October 23, 2019) – On Tuesday afternoon, an Ontario Police officer who was riding a patrol motorcycle on the 215 Freeway collided with the rear-end of a truck, and suffered serious injuries. The October 22 incident occurred in the area of Grand Terrace.
The time was roughly 2:36 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say the officer on the motorcycle had been behind a pickup truck on the freeway, going roughly 55 miles per hour and heading south. In an area close to Barton Road, traffic stopped suddenly, the California Highway Patrol reported, and the officer could not avoid colliding with the pickup truck.
The impact threw the officer from the police motorcycle. According to reports, he suffered major injuries. Responders arrived and transported the injured man to a hospital by airlift. His name and his current condition have not been reported.
According to reports, no one else was hurt in the incident.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck has not been identified, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone else had been an occupant of the pickup when the incident occurred.
