Two Men Identified as UPS Employees Crushed to Death at Ontario Airport When Tug Overturns
ONTARIO, CA (November 29, 2019) – Austin Stache and Noe Tinoco, Jr. were identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner as the UPS employees who were crushed to death Monday morning at the Ontario International Airport. The November 25 incident occurred at UPS’s shipping hub.
The time was roughly 7:21 a.m., according to the Ontario Fire Department and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA).
The two men were crushed when a vehicle—described as a tug—tipped over, according to Luke Brown. Brown is a spokesperson for Cal/OSHA.
A tug is a tractor-like vehicle that tows dollies. Packages are loaded onto dollies to move them to or from airplanes during loading and unloading.
Reports say the two victims had been riding or driving the tug and it overturned and crushed them.
Noe Tinoco, Jr. was a resident of San Bernardino. He was 22 years old.
Austin Stache was a resident of Rancho Cucamonga. He was 20 years old.
Investigators are working to examine the details and information regarding the incident to understand how and why it happened. No other details are known at this time.
