Three-vehicle Crash on Route 259 in San Bernardino Leaves One Person Killed
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (September 20, 2021) – Early in the morning on Sunday in San Bernardino, one person died in a three-vehicle crash that may have involved a wrong-way driver. The September 19 crash occurred on Route 259 on the southbound side, close to where it merges into the the 210 Freeway eastbound.
The time was roughly a little after 2:00 a.m., according to authorities.
A vehicle–which has not been described–may have been traveling south in the lanes that head north, reports say. The vehicle collided with another undescribed vehicle.
A vehicle traveling on the roadway crashed into the two crashed vehicles. The other two vehicles involved in the crash have also not been described.
Responders arrived and found one person died in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not known which vehicle the person had been traveling in.
Responders took one person to the hospital. The person has not been identified. The types of injuries of the patient, and current condition, are not known from reports.
It is not known how many people were involved in the crash, nor how many may have been injured.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and they are in the process of collecting information.
