Man Identified as Motorcyclist Killed in Oceanside Crash
OCEANSIDE, CA (February 11, 2020) – Timothy James Bauer was identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in the afternoon on Saturday in Oceanside. The February 8 incident occurred on Oceanside Boulevard.
The time was roughly 1:45 p.m., the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Reports say Bauer had been traveling on a motorcycle and heading west on Oceanside Boulevard when he hit a vehicle—described as a truck and trailer—which had been making a left turn to the opposite side of the street.
According to reports, the truck driver is alleged to have been making a turn that was illegal: turning to the left to the eastbound side of the road and going into the westbound lanes and in the motorcycles path. Authorities are reported to have said the motorcyclist was not able to stop in time before colliding.
Responders arrived and pronounced Bauer deceased at the incident site. He was 54 years old.
The truck driver was identified as Ronald Estes. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, Tom Bussy said. Bussy is a public information officer with the police department.
Investigators are continuing to gather information and evidence regarding the incident.
