Driver Crashes in Oceanside; Ruptures Gas Line at Shopping Center
OCEANSIDE, CA (July 9, 2020) – Late in the morning on Wednesday, a driver crashed in Oceanside and ruptured a gas line at a shopping center. The July 8 incident occurred at 3776 Mission Avenue.
The time was shortly before 12:00 p.m., Oceanside Fire Department said.
Reports say a vehicle–described as a minivan–crashed into a gas line and ruptured it. The line went to a building that is vacant in a shopping center.
Responders arrived and found the line was broken, and gas was escaping. Responders transported the driver, who suffered minor injuries, to Tri City Medical Center. Her identity–including name, age, and city of residence–has not been reported.
Responders also evacuated the area nearby, including a Verizon store.
Investigators are working on gathering information regarding the crash. The owner of the property has not been identified in reports.
