Oakland, CA (May 31, 2018) – Local Police officers reported that a female bicyclist died after a head on collision with an SUV Thursday afternoon, May 31st, around 4:30PM. The bicyclist was near Elverton Drive on Skyline Boulevard when she was heading eastbound approaching a bend in the road, apparently at the time that the SUV was driving heading westbound towards the same location. She then swerved into the SUV leading to her death. The SUV driver, whose name was not released, stayed at the scene to cooperate with the officials.
The Coroner’s Office released the name of the female bicyclist as Tatyana Schmid, age 28 from Oakland, CA. Friends say Tatyana was blogger and tour guide for a hiking and biking company. So far Police appear to think that Tatyana might have been speeding before the accident occurred. As for the SUV driver there are no clear factors in which police could find on the driver for the cause of the collision. The collision will remain under further investigation to gather more information about the cause.
