Hit-and-run Driver Strikes Off-Duty Deputy’s Vehicle in Norwalk
NORWALK, CA (July22, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck the vehicle of an off-duty deputy early in the morning on Saturday in Norwalk, causing injuries. The July 20 incident occurred in the area of Imperial Highway and Pioneer Boulevard.
The time was roughly 1:45 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Reports say a pick up truck—described as a Chevrolet Silverado—collided with the deputy’s SUV, causing the SUV to overturn. The incident occurred near the deputy’s assigned station, roughly a mile away.
The driver of the pickup truck did not remain at the accident site, but drove away on Pioneer Boulevard, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Reports say responders took a victim, described as a female, to a hospital. It is not clear from reports where the victim was when the incident occurred. The identity of the deputy involved in the incident has not been reported. The condition of the victim was described as stable.
Investigators are searching for the pickup truck involved in the incident, and the suspected hit-and-run driver. The driver has not been described in reports.
