Two People Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Northridge
NORTHRIDGE, CA (May 21, 2019) – Two people were seriously injured when a hit-and-run driver collided with their vehicle in Northridge early in the morning on Sunday. The May 19 incident occurred where Nordhoff Street and Tampa Avenue intersect, Martha Garcia said. Garcia is a detective with the Valley Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Mercedes Benz—drove through a light that was red and smashed into a Honda Civic. Surveillance video from a camera recorded the incident, according to reports. The person who was driving the Honda and a passenger in the Honda were seriously injured.
The condition of the Honda’s driver was said to be critical. Reports say it is believed he will survive. His passenger, who also was injured, is also expected to survive. Her injuries have not been described, and the injuries of the driver have not been described. The identities of the two people who had been traveling in the Honda have not been reported, including their names, ages, and cities of residence.
Detectives were informed by witnesses that several people who had been in the Mercedes ran from the vehicle and the accident site. Authorities are continuing their search for the person who had been driving the Mercedes, and the people who had been passengers in that vehicle.
