Head-on Crash on Nordhoff Street in North Hills Injures Three Children, Two Adults
NORTH HILLS, CA (March 10, 2020) – Late at night on Monday, a head-on crash in North Hills injured three small children and two adults. The March 9 incident occurred on Nordhoff Street in the 15200 block.
The time was roughly 11:45 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police.
Reports say a vehicle—described as an SUV, white in color—had been going at a fast speed and traveled into the lane of opposing traffic. It collided head on with another SUV, described as black in color. The collision also damaged two vehicles which had been parked on the street; the vehicles have not been described.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver from the white SUV. The types of injuries she suffered were described as moderate. Her current condition is not known. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Three children had also been occupants of the white SUV, and the driver was identified as their mother. One child, who was described as 4 to 6 months of age, suffered injuries that were serious; the child’s condition was described as critical.
The twin of the critically injured child was also injured; that child’s injuries were described as moderate.
A third child, described as 2 to 3 years of age, suffered injuries that included lacerations to the head. All were transported to a hospital.
The person who had been driving the black SUV suffered injuries that were described as moderate. Responders transported the victim to a hospital. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are working to collect information and details regarding the crash. According to reports, authorities believe the person who had been driving the white SUV was driving under the influence.
The owners of the parked vehicles that were damaged have not been identified.
