Crash of Single Vehicle Near New Cuyama Causes Closure of Highway 166
NEW CUYAMA, CA (September 26, 2018) – A single vehicle crashed early Wednesday morning near New Cuyama, which led to authorities closing Highway 166.
The accident occurred on Caliente Avenue in the 4800 block, close to Highway 166.
The time was roughly 2:00 a.m.
Officials said a vehicle struck a power pole, which caused the pole to break. Power lines fell close to the highway. As a result, authorities had to close the highway in both directions.
Responders from Santa Barbara County Fire, Santa Barbara County Sheriff, and California Highway Patrol responded to the incident. Firefighters extinguished a small-sized fire that started in grass close by.
Reports say that no one was injured in the crash. No other details are available about the type of vehicle that crashed, or the identity of the person who was driving.
Investigators from the California Highway Patrol are looking into the details to determine what caused the crash.
