Temecula DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on 15 Fwy Leaves Woman Dead
TEMECULA, CA (September 20, 2024) – Nancy Arzate, 33, of Perris, was tragically killed in a DUI hit-and-run accident on the 15 Freeway near Temecula Parkway on Sunday night. The fatal incident occurred around 10:00 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Nancy Azrate Lost Control of Her Car To Start The Turn of Events That Led To Her Demise
Nancy Arzate lost control of her 2011 Toyota Camry for unknown reasons, causing her vehicle to collide with a roadside object. The impact caused her sedan to turn sideways and become stranded on the freeway. An oncoming driver managed to avoid her vehicle, but another driver, identified as 26-year-old Mason Michael Joachim, was unable to stop in time. His 2003 Ford Edge struck Arzate’s stationary car and herself at approximately 70 mph.
Following the crash, Joachim fled the scene on foot before authorities could arrive. Good Samaritans rushed to administer aid to Arzate until Riverside County Fire Department paramedics took over. Despite their efforts, Arzate succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead 15 minutes later.
Mason Michael Joachim Was Arrested and Charged With Second Degree Murder
Authorities later apprehended Joachim, who is now facing several charges, including suspicion of second-degree murder and DUI. He was booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on Saturday night.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, as officials continue to gather details surrounding the fatal collision.
