Multiple Vehicle Crash Causes Traffic Jam

A multiple car accident caused the traffic on the northbound I-5 in San Clemente to come to a standstill today. The accident occurred just south of Camino de Estrella at 9:40 a.m.
The collision involved at least two vehicles. Witnesses reported an SUV rolling across several lanes before hitting the center divider.
Police responded to the accident with two flatbed trucks to remove the debris and vehicles and an ambulance was called in to remove the injured driver.
At least one person was taken to the hospital with injuries.
The leftmost southbound lane was also blocked off by police as they worked to extract the driver of the SUV from the wreck. The traffic on both sides was backed up for miles.
