Crash with U-Haul Injures Motorcyclist in Morena
MORENA, CA (August 17, 2018) – A motorcyclist was injured on Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle collided with the rear end of a U-Haul truck.
Sergeant Robert Hawkins of the San Diego Police said the crash, which occurred on Friars Road at Gaines Street, occurred at roughly 12:30 p.m. The accident scene was close to the northwest side of Riverwalk Golf Club. According to police, the impact from the collision caused the motorcycle to catch on fire.
The report says the motorcyclist, who was described as a 30 year old, had been speeeding as he traveled throught he intersection. He hit the rear end of a U-Haul truck as the truck was turning onto Gaines Street.
Hawkins said the accident threw the motorcyclist from his bike, and the motorcycle burst into flames.
Responders took the victim to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. The motorcyclist suffered internal injuries and bones that were broken.
The person who had been driving the U-Haul truck was not injured.
Investigators from the San Diego Police Department are looking into the details of the crash.
