Car Crash in Monrovia Brings Down Utility Pole, Cutting Off Power to Some Residents
MONROVIA, CA (October 5, 2018) – A car crashed in Monrovia on Wednesday, striking a utility pole and cutting off power to some residents. The October 3 accident occurred on Huntington Drive. The time was a little before midnight.
According to Sarah Covarrubias, a lieutenant with the Monrovia Police, a Honda Civic had been traveling west on Huntington Drive. The vehicle struck a tree, and a light pole, which then fell onto a car parked on the street. The crash caused power lines to come down.
Responders transported the driver, who suffered injuries, to a hospital.
According to reports, 2,216 customers of Southern California Edison—located in Monrovia, Duarte, and Bradbury—lost electricity until repairs were completed that afternoon.
