Collision Involving Motorcycle and Car Injures Rider in Mission Valley

MISSION VALLEY, CA (December 14, 2018) – A collision involving a motorcycle and a car injured the rider in Mission Valley late Thursday afternoon. The December 13 accident occurred on Camino Del Rio south in the 2200 block.

The time was 5:30 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.

According to reports, the car—described as a Lexus ES350—had been trying to turn left into a business complex. Heims said that traffic that had been traveling east came to a stop to allow the driver—identified as a woman 31 years old—to make a left turn.

A motorcycle—described as a Harley Davison—was traveling east in the street’s right lane. The motorcycle—ridden by a man 36 years old—was traveling on the right of where the vehicles were stopped, waiting for the car to make the left turn. The motorcycle struck the car as the car was driving into the parking lot for the business complex.

According to Heims, the man riding the motorcycle suffered injuries that included a broken fibula and tibia. Responders took him to a hospital. Heims said that alcohol did not play a role in the crash.

The name and city of residence of the injured motorcyclist has not yet been reported, nor his current condition.

The name and city of residence of the car’s driver has not yet been reported.

Investigators are continuing their examination of the information and details regarding the accident.
