Woman Struck and Killed on Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 9, 2022) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed on Friday in Bakersfield was identified by the Kern County coroner’s office as Megan Nicole Fanucchi. The November 4 crash occurred on Stockdale Highway in the 5100 block, to the east of New Stine Road.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m., authorities said.
Bakersfield Police allege Fanucchi had been walking across Stockdale Highway, not within a crosswalk that is marked, when a silver-colored car hit her.
The driver did not stop to help, but fled the crash site.
A second vehicle ran over the victim, and the driver of the second vehicle also fled the crash site.
Responders pronounced Fanucchi deceased at the crash site. She was a resident of Bakersfield, 34 years old.
Investigators are searching for the two vehicles involved in the crash, which may be a Honda, and Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck.
They are also searching for the suspect hit-and-run drivers, neither of whom has been described.
Investigators are continuing to gather information and details regarding the crash. If anyone has information related to the incident, the person can contact police.
