Woman Walking in Mead Valley in Riverside County Suffers Serious Injuries When Struck by Hit-and-run Driver

MEAD VALLEY, CA (January 10, 2019) – A pedestrian who had been walking in Mead Valley in Riverside County in the evening on Tuesday was hit by a hit-and-run driver, and suffered serious injuries. The January 8 accident occurred on Markham Street, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident site is near Perris, and to the west of it.

According to Sergeant Dave Robles, when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department arrived to help the woman, they thought at first she might have suffered a medical incident such as a seizure. After investigating further, deputies believed something else had happened.

It was not until the next day, on Wednesday morning, after medical staff at Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley had treated the victim, that California Highway Patrol officers were told a hit-and-run incident had occurred, Robles said.

The identity of the woman, her name, age, and city of residence have not yet been reported. It has also not yet been reported what types of injuries she suffered, though they were characterized as serious. Her current condition has not yet been reported.

No details have yet been reported on the person who was driving the vehicle that hit her, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. The type of vehicle that struck her has also not yet been reported.
