Man Walking in Middle Lanes of SR-67 Near Poway is Hit and Killed
POWAY, CA (December 24, 2018) – A man who witnesses saw walking on SR-67 in its middle lanes was hit and killed by a vehicle on Sunday night. The December 23 accident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, close to Cloudy Moon Drive, according to David Toner. Toner is a sergeant with the Sheriff’s Department.
The time was roughly 11:00 p.m.
Reports say the man was walking on SR-67 in an area of San Diego County that is unincorporated. The man—identified as a 35 year old—was hit by a Buick sedan. According to Toner, the impact from the crash threw the man onto the freeway’s lanes on the southbound side. The victim was then hit by at least four additional vehicles. He was dragged approximately 50 yards.
Respondents arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The victim’s name and city of residence have not yet been reported.
The names and cities of residence of the drivers that hit the victim have not yet been reported. It has not yet been reported if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
Investigators are looking into why the accident happened by examining the details and information.
