Man Killed in OC Mini Cooper Crash Identified

San Juan Capistrano, CA – The man who died after a solo-crash has been identified as Thomas Abdoyan, 28-years old of Burbank California.
Orange County coroner’s office identified the man less than 24-hours after a crash that occurred at about 3:15 a.m. Abdoyan was driving a red 2006 Mini Cooper northbound Pacific Coast Highway near Capistrano Beach and Interstate 5 Freeway. The cause of the accident remains a mystery.
The Mini Cooper crashed against the center median and overturned several times for about 650 feet before landing on its roof northbound on PCH. The small vehicle received extensive damage which made it difficult for fire fighters to extricate the victim.
Upon extrication, the victim was placed on gurney where he went into cardiac arrest before being loaded into the ambulance. The man died about an hour after the crash at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.
A 29-year old man who was traveling as his passenger received minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by California Highway Patrol.
