Los Angeles’ Tourism Rises Significantly in 2014

Los Angeles reached record level tourism job growth and visitor spending for 2014. This was the announcement made by the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board today.
Forty-four and two tenths people visited Los Angeles in 2014, a number which set a record for the area. That number represented an increase of 4.8% since 2013. People traveling from within the United States reached 37.7 million. People visiting from other countries totaled 6.5 million which represented an increase of 5.6% over the past year.
Visitor spending reached 19.6 billion which represented an increase of 6.8% since 2013.
The tourism trade supported approximately 464,600 jobs in the Los Angeles area. Approximately 25,300 jobs were created by the tourism industry.
The tourism industry is a large and thriving industry in the Los Angeles area. Many jobs are created and the economy is stimulated significantly.
Los Angeles is ranked among the highest of national tourism attracting cities.
The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board hopes to see 50 million visitors by 2020.
Hotels set a record level of booking rooms and occupancy. The record level represented an increase of 3.2 % in the past year.
Marketing representatives for hotels such as The Ritz Carlton, and JW Marriott in addition to personnel from the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board are responsible for marketing and promoting tourism opportunities to the public. They did a marvelous job this past year as efforts were focused on displaying Los Angeles’ most attractive features to people who may have never visited the city or who were encouraged enough about previous experiences in the city to return.
Los Angeles is viewed as a congested, busy and expansive city. Marketers and promoters strive to accentuate what people love about the city.
