Los Angeles, CA (May 3rd, 2023) – A man lost his life in a solo-car accident at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Edgewood Place in the Mid-Wilshire District of Los Angeles on Sunday evening, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Passenger Thrown From Car After it Slammed Into A La Brea Ave. Utility Pole

The LAPD stated that the fatal incident took place at approximately 8:15 p.m. and involved a car crashing into a utility pole. The vehicle was occupied by a driver and a passenger, both of whom were in their twenties. Upon impact, the passenger, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was ejected from the car.

Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

LAPD is Still Investigating How the Car Lost Control

What Is The Safest Way To Be A Passenger in A Vehicle?

The safest way to be a passenger in a vehicle is to follow these guidelines:

  1. Wear a seatbelt: Always wear your seatbelt properly, with the lap belt across your hips and the shoulder belt across your chest. This can greatly reduce the risk of injury in the event of a collision.
  2. Sit in the back seat: The back seat is generally safer than the front seat, especially for children under the age of 13. This is because the front seat airbags can be dangerous for children in the event of an accident.
  3. Avoid distractions: Avoid distracting the driver or engaging in distracting activities while in the car. This includes using electronic devices, eating, or engaging in heated conversations.
  4. Follow traffic laws: Encourage the driver to follow traffic laws, including speed limits, stop signs, and traffic lights.
  5. Choose a safe driver: Choose a driver who is responsible, attentive, and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you feel uncomfortable with the driver’s behavior, speak up and ask to be let out of the car.

By following these guidelines, you can greatly reduce the risk of injury or death while riding as a passenger in a vehicle.
