Car Plunges Off Road in Angeles National Forest, Killing Two People
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, CA (April 22, 2019) – A car plunged off the road in the Angeles National Forest on Friday morning, killing two people. The April 19 accident occurred on San Gabriel Canyon Road close to mile marker 34.54.
The time was roughly 9:25 a.m., Rodrigo Jimenez said. Jimenez is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the vehicle had been traveling north when it swerved off the road for reasons that are not yet known. It plunged roughly 300 feet, rolling down the mountain slope, and came to rest on its side. The car erupted in flames, which then spread to brush nearby. The fire spread up-slope.
Respondents from the Los Angeles Fire Department extinguished the fire. Paramedics attended to the victims in the wreckage of the vehicle. According to Jimenez, the fire had burned the vehicle, and the people inside, beyond recognition.
The identities of the victims, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence, have not been reported. A description of the car has not been reported as yet.
