Vehicle Hits Light Pole in Los Angeles’ Highland Park, Killing Teen; Injuring Others
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 25, 2019) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a vehicle smashed into a light pole in Los Angeles, close to the neighborhood of Highland Park. The July 25 incident occurred on North Figueroa Street in the 3800 block.
The time was roughly a little after 1:00 a.m., Juan Campus said. Campus is a detective with the Central Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reports say a vehicle crashed into a light pole made of concrete, but it is not known why the vehicle crashed. The vehicle has not been described.
Responders arrived and found that a victim—identified as a man 18 years old—died at the accident site. His identity, including name and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters had to work to extricate the occupants of the vehicle, who were trapped in the wreckage. Responders transported two other occupants of the vehicle to a hospital in the area.
The victims were identified as a female and a male. Their identities, including names, ages, and cities of residence, have not been reported. The types of injuries they suffered are not known, though their condition has been described as critical.
Investigators are working on gathering information to understand what caused the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, he or she should call the LAPD.
