Two People Thrown from Vehicle in South Los Angeles Crash Die from Injuries
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 31, 2019) – A crash involving two vehicles killed two people in South Los Angeles Wednesday night. The May 29 incident occurred in the Willowbrook area, in the vicinity of Rosecrans Avenue and Avalon Boulevard.
The time was roughly 6:35 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a vehicle, described as a Ford Mustang, had been heading south on Avalon Boulevard. The Mustang made a turn to the left to Rosecrans Avenue. Another vehicle, described as a Toyota Tacoma, had been heading north on Avalon Boulevard. The two vehicles collided when the Mustang crossed the Toyota’s path, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Toyota struck the Mustang broadside on its passenger side. The Mustang went out of control on the impact of the crash. It then hit a pole.
The person who had been driving the Mustang, identified as a man 27 years old and a resident of Los Angeles; and a passenger in the Mustang, identified as a woman 20 years old and a resident of Buena Park; were both thrown from the vehicle. The passenger died at the accident site.
Respondents transported the driver to hospital where he later died. The names of the victims have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Toyota—identified as a man 24 years old—suffered injuries that were described as minor. His name has not been reported, nor his city of residence.
Investigators are examining the information to understand why the crash happened.
