Two People Injured When Vehicle Smashes into Motel in Los Angeles’ Echo Park
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 10, 2019) – On Monday night, a vehicle smashed into a Super 8 Motel, struck a fire hydrant, and crashed into a tree in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park. The September 10 incident critically injured two people.
Reports say the incident occurred in the vicinity of Sunset Boulevard and Vin Scully Avenue. The time was roughly 9:00 p.m.
Two occupants were stuck in the wrecked vehicle and firefighters had to work to extricate them, according to Battalion Chief Scott LaRue of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Responders transported both of the victims to a hospital. Their condition was described as critical. The types of injuries they suffered have not been reported.
Their identities, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, have also not been reported. It is not known from reports who the driver was.
A second vehicle had been involved in the collision, according to firefighters, but the vehicle, and its occupants have not been described. Reports say the second vehicle had damage that was minor, and no one was hurt. The driver has not been identified.
According to LaRue, no one inside the Super 8 Motel was hurt. Inspectors arrived to examine the building’s safety. Investigators are collecting details and information to understand what caused the crash.
