Suspect Driver Strikes Two Vehicles While Attempting to Evade Police Pursuit in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 6, 2019) – The driver of a suspected stolen vehicle led police on a chase in Los Angeles, striking two vehicles before the pursuit came to an end in the area of Echo Park.
The March 5 incident unfolded with police officers pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle, heading south on the 101 Freeway from Studio City to Hollywood. The time was roughly 9:30 a.m., according to reports. The stolen vehicle was described as a minivan, dark in color.
Reports say the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle was stopped on Sunset Boulevard by a police officer who used a PIT maneuver, in an area between the 110 Freeway and Beaudry Avenue. The van, however, swerved into another vehicle—described as a Mercedes-Benz—when it was struck by the patrol vehicle.
Reports say the driver of the van then began moving in reverse and struck a car that was parked. In the area of Silver Lake, as many as seven patrol cars followed the van as it left the freeway. As the van headed east in the area of Echo Park, police were able to stop it with a PIT maneuver. The identity of the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle has not been reported, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence.
The identity of the person who was driving the vehicle that the suspect’s vehicle hit has not been reported. It is not known from reports if anyone was hurt in the incident.
