Street Racing in Mission Hills Area of Los Angeles Kills One, Injures Another
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 8, 2019) – Street racing on Tuesday night in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Mission Hills killed one person and injured another. The August 6 incident occurred on Woodman Avenue.
The time was roughly 9:55 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Mazda—had been going fast on Woodman Avenue. The Mazda went out of the driver’s control, and it smashed into a vehicle that was parked. The vehicle that was struck was described as a GMC Yukon.
According to a person who saw the incident, the person who had been driving the Mazda had been racing with another vehicle, which has not been described. The other vehicle that had been racing left the accident site, and did not stop to offer help.
Responders arrived and pronounced the driver of the Mazda deceased at the accident site. He was identified as in his 30s. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
A passenger who had been in the Mazda at the time of the crash suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders transported her to a hospital. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work to gather evidence, and to locate the other vehicle and the driver involved in the street race.
