Police Pursuit of Suspected Stolen SUV Ends in South Los Angeles with Arrest
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 31, 2019) – Police pursuit of a suspected stolen SUV came to an end Thursday afternoon with an arrest in Los Angeles. The May 30 incident began in Vermont Square, in the area of West 54th Street and South Hoover Street.
Reports say officers began to follow the suspected stolen vehicle—described as a Kia Sorrento—a bit after 2:00 p.m. The suspected stolen vehicle headed north on the 110 Freeway, according to reports.
The pursuit then headed south on the 110 Freeway, and the suspect left the freeway followed by police.
The pursuit continued on city streets. At roughly 2:24 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car hit the suspect vehicle, which caused the suspect vehicle to go out of control. The suspect driver continued fleeing in the vehicle.
At roughly 2:30 p.m., another Los Angeles Police Department patrol car rammed the Kia on the driver’s side. The Kia was wedged against a curb in the area of South Park, near South Broadway and West 54th Street.
Authorities arrested the suspect driver. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported. No other information regarding the incident is currently available. The investigation continues.
