Pedestrian Killed on Main Street in South Los Angeles by Hit-and-run Driver

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 4, 2021) – Late in the afternoon on Tuesday, a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Broadway-Manchester area of South Los Angeles. The woman died of her injuries in the February 2 crash, which occurred close to where 97th Street and Main Street intersect.

The time was roughly 5:50 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.

The pedestrian had been going across Main Street, reports say, not within a crosswalk that is marked. A vehicle–described as a pickup truck –which had been traveling southbound, hit her.

The person driving the pickup did not remain at the crash site or help the victim. The driver turned onto 98th Street, and left the scene, according to reports.

Responders arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. She died in the hospital.

She was identified only as 66 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the truck–which is reported to have wooden paneling in a white color–and the suspect driver. The suspect has not been described.
