Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-run Driver in Los Angeles’ Vermont Vista Neighborhood
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 21, 2019) – On Tuesday night, a person walking in South Los Angeles’ Vermont Vista neighborhood was killed by a hit-and-run driver. The August 20 incident occurred where South Vermont Avenue and West 98th Street intersect.
The time was roughly 11:00 p.m.
Reports say video from a surveillance camera recorded a person leaving a Metro bus and then walking in a crosswalk that is marked. When the pedestrian was nearly to the middle of the road, the person sees that two vehicles are heading quickly toward him or her.
The person pauses, and one of the vehicles hits the person. The driver did not stop to help the victim, but left the incident site.
The victim died from injuries related to the crash. The person’s identity, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The type of vehicle involved in the incident has only been described as a sedan. No description of the hit-and-run driver has been reported.
Investigators are continuing their search for the driver and the vehicle involved in the incident.
