Man Struck and Severely Injured in Hit-and-run Crash in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 23, 2021) – Late in the morning on Sunday in South Los Angeles, Juan Beltran was struck and severely injured by a hit-and-run driver. The February 21 incident occurred on E. 49th Street in the 1100 block.
The time was roughly 10:51 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police.
The incident was captured on video, reports say, and a vehicle–described as a Toyota Prius, light green in color–was recorded traveling on the road. The Prius hits a pedestrian who was walking across the street, and the driver does not stop to help.
Responders arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. His condition was described as critical.
Family members identified the victim was Juan Beltran, a resident of the area, 51 years old.
Investigators are searching for the Prius, and the suspect driver, who has not been described.
